Can You Put a Case on Apple’s New Foldable iPhone? See the Options

News RoomBy News RoomSeptember 10, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Apple’s new foldable iPhone won’t be hitting shelves for weeks, but eager fans are already thinking about how to accessorize it – and protect it.

A first-of-its-kind product from Apple, the shape and function of the iPhone Duo is already sparking some to question how it will work with a case.

“At $2,000 and given how bulky it is already, I cannot imagine a very thick case to go along with it for protection,” one person wrote on X.

But the tech giant thought ahead, revealing new case options for the iPhone Duo at the same time it announced the phone itself. Other phone case brands have also similarly unveiled their own versions.

Here’s what to know.

Can You Put a Case on the New Foldable iPhone?

Yes, a phone case does work with the iPhone Duo. In fact, Apple has already revealed two different versions for the foldable phone.

One version, called the iPhone Duo Folio, features a kickstand intended to allow users to set up their phone for reading, FaceTime or viewing content, Apple said.

The Folio is available in navy blue and taupe and will cost $129. It will be available to order beginning Friday, Oct. 16.

A different version, which Apple simply calls the iPhone Duo Case, is a thinner, two-part design that wraps around both sides of the phone.

Available in sand and navy blue, the regular case is available to order for $79 beginning Oct. 16.

Both the Folio and the Duo Case are compatible with wireless charging like MagSafe, Qi2 25W and Qi-certified chargers, Apple said.

More Brands Unveil Their iPhone Duo Case Designs

Aside from Apple, several phone case brands, like OtterBox, Speck, Spigen and more, have unveiled their designs for the iPhone Duo.

The most noticeable variety concerns the phone’s hinge, with some designs leaving it exposed to keep the flow of the fold and others with a visible protective layer.

OtterBox announced two case designs for the phone: the Lumen Series and the Defender Series Pro XT. The former features a two-piece design with raised edges and costs $69.99. The other option is designed with more grip space and grippy edges around the hinge, costing $89.99.

For $64.99, Speck has a one-piece design with a hinge cover that automatically closes, intended to protect it from accidental drops.

Spigen has several options to choose from, including a clear case with a visible hinge or a more durable option with raised edges and tougher hinge protection. They range in price from $49.99 to $99.99.
