Gas prices have been on the rise since the United States and Israel launched joint military strikes against Iran, leaving many drivers wondering when they will get some relief at the pump.
The average price of a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, was $4.22, according to AAA. That’s up from $4.15 one week earlier and $3.19 on Sept. 9, 2025.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in a post on X that the national average continued to tick up in real time. He also said diesel prices were rising and could soon reach $6 a gallon nationally.
