Used Car Prices Are Finally Falling Again — Here Are the 20 Models Dropping the Fastest

News RoomBy News RoomSeptember 10, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Used car prices in the U.S. have been falling after steadily climbing for months.

Overall, prices for 1- to 5-year-old vehicles dropped by an average of 1.3% from June 2025 to June 2026, according to iSeeCars.

Prices for used cars dropped or held steady from the beginning of the year to June. The cost of a typical used car that is from 1 to 5 years old dropped $412 in June and rose $8 in May. Average prices for used cars decreased $694 in April and $667 in March.

That marks a sharp contrast to electric vehicle prices, which increased by 10.8 percentage points between March and June, due in part to the Iran conflict driving up gas prices.

In a summary of the iSeeCars findings, executive analyst Karl Brauer says that a variety of used autos leads the market in declining prices — with the exception of EVs:

“Compared to the first half of 2025, used car prices were down for five of the first six months of 2026, and were flat the other month, suggesting the overall used car market is softening even as EVs see increased demand.”

If you’re shopping for a vehicle, the trend of rising car costs might be troubling. But after analyzing and comparing sales transactions for 1.8 million cars sold in June 2025 and June 2026, iSeeCars determined which cars are falling in cost.

Here are the 20 vehicles that have seen their average sale prices fall the most in the past year, according to iSeeCars:

  1. Lincoln Corsair (hybrid): average price of $37,312 as of June (which is down $6,454 or 14.7% from one year prior)
  2. Porsche 911: $118,025 (-$14,063 or -10.6%)
  3. Audi Q5 (hybrid): $36,890 (-$3,012 or -7.5%)
  4. Mercedes-Benz G-Class: $127,727 (-$9,927 or -7.2%)
  5. Audi A5 Sportback: $33,495 (-$2,495 or -6.9%)
  6. Ford Bronco: $45,341 (-$2,763 or -5.7%)
  7. Buick Encore GX: $21,038 (-$1,116 or -5.0%)
  8. Ford F-150 (hybrid): $46,201 (-$2,299 or -4.7%)
  9. GMC Sierra 1500: $45,426 (-$2,222 or -4.7%)
  10. Nissan Rogue: $22,401 (-$1,093 or -4.7%)
  11. Audi A6: $34,872 (-$1,700 or -4.6%)
  12. Genesis GV80: $44,892 (-$1,990 or -4.2%)
  13. Mercedes-Benz GLB: $30,863 (-$1,355 or -4.2%)
  14. Jeep Wrangler: $36,067 (-$1,479 or -3.9%)
  15. Volkswagen Atlas: $30,149 (-$1,044 or -3.3%)
  16. Audi Q5 Sportback: $37,189 (-$1,276 or -3.3%)
  17. Chevrolet Blazer: $26,706 (-$878 or -3.2%)
  18. Ford Explorer Hybrid: $29,979 (-$981 or -3.2%)
  19. Chevrolet Malibu: $18,619 (-$590 or -3.1%)
  20. Mercedes-Benz S-Class: $77,349 (-$2,371 or -3.0%)

Car shoppers might assume that EVs are the best option when gas prices remain high, but the iSeeCars analysis points out that there’s more to consider. Full cost of ownership, vehicle research and current market data are key points to take into account along with fuel and charging costs.

You should also consider your car insurance coverage. Not shopping around could mean you spend far more than is necessary. Compare rates side by side in just minutes with this free online tool from Insurify. You could save up to $1,100 per year.
