American-made cars don’t have to be expensive. Cars.com released a list of the most affordable American-made cars included in its American-made index.
Six of the 10 models listed have starting prices under $30,000. Since the average new vehicle price is around $50,000, many of these car and SUV models are steals for drivers.

The 2026 Honda Accord Is an Affordable Midsize Car

Like the Accord, the Nissan Altima is another affordable American-made midsize sedan from a Japanese brand. It starts at $27,580 before taxes and fees, making it one of the most affordable new midsize cars in 2026.
The 2026 Nissan Altima has “good fuel economy” and an “easy-to-drive” nature according to an Edmunds vehicle review. It’s a solid budget pick for families who don’t need the extra cargo and cabin space of an SUV.
The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Is an Affordable and Capable SUV
Subaru’s subcompact SUV is one of the few American-made SUVs under $30,000 on the list. Subaru’s SUVs are known for their rugged designs and off-roading prowess.
The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek starts at just $26,995. It’s efficient and has roomy, comfortable front seats. The Crosstrek also has decent off-road capability as a base model and can easily be enhanced with tires or purchased from the factory as a mean off-roading machine (Crosstrek Wilderness).
Toyota’s Corolla Cross Is an SUV Version of a Popular Compact Sedan
The Corolla Cross subcompact SUV shares DNA with Toyota’s popular Corolla small car. It starts at $25,235.
Toyota’s affordable subcompact SUV has decent cargo space (24.0 cubic feet) and it’s a close relative to one of the most reliable car nameplates on the market. It may not be the most charismatic new SUV, but it’s a great pick for drivers who want a value-oriented vehicle.
The Honda Civic Is an Affordable Car Staple
Honda’s sedan is synonymous with affordability and reliability. Civics have been popular in America for decades because they have low starting prices, they retain value well, and they’re relatively easy to maintain over long-term ownership periods.
The 2026 Honda Civic starts at $24,695. Honda now offers a hybrid version of the popular sedan for $29,395. The Civic could see a surge in popularity as consumers search for affordable cars with strong production histories of reliability.
Toyota’s Small Car Is the Most Affordable American-Made Car
Toyota’s compact car isn’t the most exciting vehicle, but when it comes to affordability, value and longevity, the Toyota Corolla is one-of-a-kind. The 2026 Toyota Corolla starts at $23,125, which is music to the ears of drivers who are trying to dodge sky-high new car prices.
Most Corolla models made in North America are assembled in Blue Springs, Mississippi. It’s also available as a hybrid and in plenty of trims that cost under $30,000.
America is beginning to see a sedan resurgence since many of the most affordable new cars are small and midsize sedans.
