Rising gas prices have prompted some drivers to give electric cars another look, and one EV in particular sits atop Consumer Reports new rankings of battery ranges: the Chevrolet Silverado.
Consumer Reports said the Chevrolet Silverado had the highest battery range in both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s estimates, which are used on showroom stickers, and its own real-world testing. The group said the Silverado’s battery achieved 472 miles before it recharged in highway testing, compared to an EPA estimate of 493 miles.
The Silverado was the only EV that was able to be driven over 400 miles before its battery needed to be recharged in Consumer Reports testing.
The finding comes as the average price of gas rose to $3.79 per gallon on March 17, up from an average of $3.54 per gallon a week ago on March 10.
With the uptick in both gas prices and EV interest in mind, USA TODAY Cars took a look at the Consumer Reports list to identify the models with the five longest ranges.

5. Lucid Air
MSRP: $70,900
Estimated EPA Battery Range: 396 miles
Consumer Reports Highway Test Range: 344 miles
