National Parks Will Be Free on Trump’s Birthday, Flag Day This Weekend

News RoomBy News RoomJune 12, 20263 ViewsNo Comments

Visitors to national parks can enter for free on Sunday, June 14, for President Donald Trump’s birthday and Flag Day.

All National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer admission at no cost for U.S. citizens and residents as part of one of its free entrance days.

Every year, NPS offers a handful of free entrance days, typically coinciding with federal holidays or other major events.

For 2026, the agency added June 14, the weekend of July 3–5 and Aug. 25 for NPS’ 110th birthday. It removed free entry on Juneteenth and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which had both previously been included in the list.

Why Are National Parks Free This Weekend?

National parks that usually require an entrance fee will be free on Sunday, June 14.

The offer coincides with both Trump’s birthday and Flag Day, per NPS’ website.

Flag Day is commemorated every year on June 14 to mark the anniversary of the adoption of the American flag, according to the Library of Congress. It is not a federal holiday.

Which Days Are National Parks Free in 2026?

National parks that charge an entry fee will be free on ten dates throughout 2026. Two of them — President’s Day and Memorial Day — have already passed. Here’s when they will be free for the rest of the year:

  • Flag Day/President Trump’s birthday: June 14
  • Independence Day weekend: July 3–5
  • National Park Service’s 110th birthday: Aug. 25
  • Constitution Day: Sept. 17
  • Theodore Roosevelt’s birthday: Oct. 27
  • Veterans Day: Nov. 11

How Much Does It Cost to Enter National Parks?

Many NPS sites around the country are free to enter, but some charge a fee per vehicle or person. A full list is available on the agency’s website.

For a list of parks that are always free, see more on the NPS website.
