Can the New TrumpRx Program Actually Save You Money? Here’s the Cost for 43 Drugs

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 13, 20260 ViewsNo Comments

With prescription drug costs continuing to squeeze household budgets, President Donald Trump’s new TrumpRx platform promises to deliver “immediate relief” with discounted medications.

TrumpRx is a portal that connects you to discounted pricing offers from participating drug manufacturers.

It’s like a coupon aggregator for prescriptions and based on prescription-savings platform GoodRx, which explains on its website that it’s a “core integration partner for TrumpRx, powering the pricing for leading brand medication.”

When you visit the TrumpRx website, you can search for your medication or browse 43 medications. If you see a match for your prescription, you can click on it and you’ll be directed to the drugmaker’s site to complete your purchase. You still need a valid prescription from your doctor.

The White House has struck deals with major pharmaceutical companies, including AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, Genentech, Merck and Pfizer, with plans to expand the list of participating manufacturers.

Who qualifies?

TrumpRx is currently only available to cash-paying patients. The platform explicitly states that discounted pricing isn’t available if you’re using insurance.

And any money you spend through TrumpRx won’t count toward your insurance deductible. For many people, that trade-off could actually cost more in the long run.

However, several groups might benefit:

  • Uninsured Americans who pay full retail prices
  • People with high-deductible health plans who haven’t met their deductible
  • Patients whose specific medications aren’t covered by their insurance
  • Anyone seeking drugs their employer won’t cover, like certain weight-loss medications

The complete list of available medications

Here’s a list of the drugs currently available on the platform along with the advertised TrumpRx prices:

  • Ozempic Pen: $199
  • Wegovy Pen: $199
  • Wegovy Pill: $149
  • Zepbound: $299

  • Cetrotide: $22.50

  • Premarin Vaginal Cream: $236.65
  • Prempro: $98.84
  • Duavee: $30.30
  • Estring: $249

  • Azulfidine Tabs: $99.60
  • Azulfidine En Tabs: $130.80

  • Eucrisa (dermatologic): $158.48
  • Protonix (heartburn): $200.10

  • Cortef (inflammation): $45
  • Medrol (inflammation): $3.15
  • Zarontin (anticonvulsant): $71.10
  • Zavzpret (migraine): $594.84
  • Viracept (antiviral): $607.20

How TrumpRx compares to other options

Before committing to TrumpRx, compare prices against other options you might already have access to, such as your existing insurance coverage. Be sure to check your insurance formulary and copay structure first.

It’s also worth noting that certain categories can be better for discounts. The GLP-1 weight-loss medications stand out because employer insurance often excludes them. Getting Wegovy pills for $149 versus $1,349 retail represents significant savings — 89% off — for those paying out of pocket.

Fertility drugs also represent a potential sweet spot, as insurance doesn’t usually cover these medications. For example, the platform advertises an 83% discount on Gonal F, which could translate to thousands in savings during in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.

As always, it’s smart to shop around. Mark Cuban’s CostPlus drug website is one place to start. WellRx is another. A few extra minutes of comparison shopping could save you hundreds or more.

Evaluate your options

Do the following before making any changes to how you fill prescriptions:

  1. Document your current costs.
  2. Visit TrumpRx.gov and search to see if your medications are listed.
  3. Compare the TrumpRx price against your current copay.
  4. Check alternative discount programs.
  5. Calculate the full-year impact.
  6. Talk to your doctor about less expensive therapeutic alternatives or potential discount programs.

This platform is another addition to your prescription savings toolkit, especially if you’re uninsured, stuck with high deductibles or need medications your insurance refuses to cover.
