Giant Eagle Inc. is not letting its impending sale to Kroger stop it from celebrating the summer.
The western Pennsylvania-based grocery chain has launched a new “On Sale This Season” promotion for summer, reducing prices on more than 300 popular grocery items through Sept. 9, according to a July 9 company announcement.
Shoppers will see lower everyday prices on various items this summer, including produce like onions, bagged salads, fruits and vegetables; baked goods; fresh meat, seafood and dairy items; pantry staples like peanut butter, jelly and cereal; frozen meats and deli items; beverages, snacks and candy; paper products and other household supplies and baby and pet products, according to the company’s website.
The promotion was renewed based on “a strong customer response” to an initial promotion held last fall, said Justin Weinstein, Giant Eagle executive vice president and chief merchandising and marketing officer, in the company announcement.
“We know our customers are seeking value in the face of elevated expenses,” he said. “We took learnings from our seasonal pricing efforts last fall and used those insights to deliver a strong savings program that can help customers save all summer long.”
Customers who use the store’s online grocery pickup or delivery service can also claim a $10 discount on an order of $150 or more until July 22 by using the discount code STAYCOOL, according to the Giant Eagle website.
