Here are some free items you can grab on your next trip to the grocery store.

The chain: Raley’s, which has locations in Northern California and Nevada
The freebie: Grab a free knife sleeve from the Raley’s meat department, put your knife in the sleeve and bring it to the grocer’s butcher. The knife will be sharpened and ready for pickup after 24 hours.
Senior discounts

The freebie: Grocery chains across the country offer discounts to seniors. In many cases, shoppers of a certain age are entitled to a small discount when they shop on a specific day of the week.

The freebie: Many chains offer reward programs to loyal shoppers. For example, the Meijer mPerks program lets you earn points that you can redeem for free rewards. The chain Compare Foods offers its Compare Club program, where you earn points that are redeemable as discounts taken off your receipt.
Winn-Dixie also has a rewards program that lets you earn points that can be cashed in for free groceries.

The freebie: Price Chopper offers free blood pressure screenings, while H-E-B offers both free blood pressure and glucose screenings.
Walmart and CVS are not grocery stores, but they do sell groceries and offer occasional free health screenings.

The freebie: Through its Diabetes AdvantEdge program, Price Chopper pharmacies offer customers a blood glucose monitor and a lancet device with lancets free of charge.

The freebie: Reasor’s offers free liquid antibiotics for children under the age of 12. Typically, up to a 10-day supply is available. Antibiotics that are included in the freebie are:
