Here’s how much every Masters winner has won since the tournament began in 1934

Nationality: Spanish

Score: 276 (-12)

Winnings: $3,240,000 ($3.53 million today)

Due to rain and thunderstorms, players were forced to play Friday’s rounds on Saturday, and Saturday’s rounds on Sunday. At the start of the final day, Jon Rahm was four strokes behind Brooks Koepka, with 30 holes left to play.

As Koepka faltered in the final round, Rahm ultimately shot 3-under par for a tournament score of 12 under, besting Koepka by four shots. Koepka tied with Phil Mickelson who, at 52, became the oldest runner-up in the tournament’s history, the Associated Press reported.

Rahm became the fourth Spaniard to win the Masters, after Seve Ballesteros, José María Olazábal, and Sergio Garcia. Ballesteros inspired Rahm to take up the game, and, incredibly, the final day of the tournament would have been Ballesteros’ 66th birthday. It was also the 40th anniversary of his second win.

“I was told a lot of things about why this could be the year,” Rahm said, according to the Associated Press. “And I just didn’t want to buy into it too much.”

Rahm’s winnings of $3.24 million were $630,000 more than Scheffler took home in 2022, then “the largest year-over-year increase in tournament history,” CBS Sports reported.
