Burger King’s “Le Nugguette” micro bags are selling like hotcakes, disgruntling customers in the process.
Daily drops of a limited-edition, “nugget-sized” handbag to celebrate BK’s new and improved chicken nuggets and updated sauces have piqued many customers’ interest — and drawn the ire of others.
Various customers have expressed frustration with how Burger King handled the drop, with some alleging the system was “rigged,” as “Le Nugguette” appeared to have sold out as soon as the clock struck noon Eastern on launch day, Sept. 12.
Many said the bags dropped and sold out a few minutes ahead of schedule. One customer wrote that the bag was sold out at 11:57 a.m., before the scheduled noon release. Others said their bags “magically disappeared” from their carts while they waited to check out.
According to Burger King, only a limited quantity of “Le Nugguette” bags was available, with 100 bags dropping daily starting Saturday, Sept. 12. The bag retailed for $3.99 — the same price as a four-piece chicken nugget order — through lenugguettebk.com.
Customers questioned how the bag could sell out within milliseconds and called on Burger King to improve the process.
More Chances to Get the Limited-Edition Bag
Burger King said ahead of the final drop on Sept. 16 that there were “still more chances” to get a “Le Nugguette” for $3.99, while supplies lasted.
“We’re excited by the enthusiasm around Le Nugguette as we celebrate our new nuggets and sauces,” Burger King said in a statement. “We designed the bag as an exclusive item for nugget and fashion fans, with 100 available each day through September 16, giving fans multiple opportunities to get one.”
Each bag came with one of four preselected charms inspired by the updated sauces: Special Savory, Honey Mustard, Buffalo or Sweet & Sour. Buyers who managed to get one also received a code redeemable for a four-piece chicken nugget order.
