Khartoon Weiss, the former lead executive for TikTok’s North American ads business, is joining Google.

She’ll serve as vice president of US Mid Market Sales (MMS), Commerce, according to a memo sent to Google employees on Monday.

MMS typically handles medium-sized advertising clients for Google. The commerce team looks after retailers, e-commerce companies, and some other brick-and-mortar clients, such as doctors and automotive showrooms.

“This is a huge addition to this team and to Google as Khartoon brings vast leadership experience across our industry,” wrote a memo from John Nicoletti, VP of customer solutions at Google.

Weiss will report to Nicoletti, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Mid-market sales have become a major growth area for Google, serving advertisers with the potential to increase their spending with the company.

Nicoletti had previously described the Google Customer Solutions team, referred to internally as “GCS,” as “managing a portfolio the size of a Fortune 100 company” in a memo he sent to staffers last year.

Weiss joined TikTok almost six years ago. Last week, Business Insider reported Weiss was leaving TikTok, the latest in a string of senior departures across the company’s advertising and marketing teams.

“Across the Americas, we have welcomed some incredible leaders in the last several months which is a huge testament to the growth and reputation of GCS Americas! Great teams attract great leaders, and I have no doubt that will continue this year as we keep growing,” Nicoletti wrote in Monday’s memo.
